A New Visa Rule: What You Need to Know

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has announced the New Visa Rule in Dubai; it came into effect in 2022. These new rules will impact individuals whose visas have expired or have been cancelled. The government’s decision to introduce these new rules comes as part of its ongoing efforts to streamline the visa process and enhance the country’s economic growth. Under the new visa rules, individuals whose visas have expired or have been cancelled will be given a grace period to either renew their visas or leave the country. The grace period will vary depending on the individual’s specific circumstances. Those who have had their visas cancelled will have a shorter grace period compared to those whose visas have expired.

New Visa Rule in Dubai: What You Need To Know

As per the new visa norms, the grace period for a resident whose visa has expired has changed. Now people can stay up to 60 days, for a maximum of 180 days. The expatriates must make sure that they renew their visas within the given grace period if they want to continue their stay in Dubai. Amer Centre has affirmed that the new rule has been set in motion and that the residents need to make the most of it. People have now started to adapt to this pre-reform.

The grace period of 180 days applies to:

      • Skilled professionals
      • Students who have completed their studies
      • Golden visa holders and their family members
      • Green visa holders and their family members
      • Divorcees or widows

The grace period division of 90 days applies to:

      • Property owners
      • All the skilled professionals who come under the 3rd level MOHRE classification.

The grace period is divided into 60 days for normal residencies and 30 days for all other categories. The dependents of skilled workers will get only 60 days, the outlook of this extended visa grace period is to help people who lost their job find new ones and extend their stay. The effects of the new visa reforms have been felt on freehold visas. Originally, it was valid for three years, but now it is only valid for two years. This applies to applicants who come as partners to a mainland company and their dependents.

According to the New Visa Rule in Dubai, it’s important to note that individuals who overstay their visa during the grace period will face penalties, and their future visa applications may be rejected. The UAE government is urging individuals to comply with the new rules and take the necessary actions to avoid any penalties or difficulties with future visa applications. Overall, the new visa rules signal the UAE’s commitment to creating a more efficient and transparent visa process while also ensuring the country’s security and economic growth.
