The UAE government has made the new unemployment insurance mandatory for all employees in the country. Those who have not signed the insurance will face a fine if failed to do so. The main aim of this scheme is to provide financial security to the workers and professionals in both private and public sectors in case of job loss. Employees who have not registered will be subjected to fines. Unemployment insurance is of two types based on the employee’s salary. Subscribing to unemployment insurance has a grace period, after which fines will be imposed for those who fail to do so.
