Difference Between UAE Entry Permit and Residence Visa

The difference between the UAE entry permit and residence visa is just as obvious as the name itself.

The Entry permit allows the person to enter the UAE, and it is valid for only a certain amount of time, which is usually up to three months. These types of visas are issued based on your purpose of travel, like tourism. The sponsor must apply for an entry permit before entering the UAE, and then the sponsor can apply for your residence visa after you arrive in the UAE.

The Entry permit visa (e visa) validity period typically initiated from the date of airport entry. In another case, if the person is inside the country and changing to residency visa without exiting from the UAE he must apply for change status after the Entry permit is approved.

All categories of Entry permit are allowed to use within 60 days from the date of approval. And the Entry permit will be considered only after the person entered into the airport.

If the person is not using the entry permit within 60 days from the date of approval, then the system will cancel their entry permit by default.

After that again the person must start the process of Entry permit from beginning. Some cases manually the sponsor must need to cancel the entry permit even if it’s expired or cancelled by the system. Then the person can apply for a New Entry Permit. To confirm the Entry permit validity, visit Amer centre in Dubai.

The Residence visa allows a person to reside in the UAE for a long time. Sponsors are responsible for applying for your residence visa from the relevant visa-issuing authorities once you have entered the country. Amer Centre provides the best Residential Visa Services in Dubai with utmost care.

With a UAE residence visa, how long can I stay?

The duration of your UAE residence visa is completely based on the purpose of your travel. This visa is issued for 1 or 2 years and can be renewed. A retirement or investment visa is issued for 5 to 10 years and is renewable.

        Renewing Visa Before Expiring

The sponsor must renew the residence visa within 30 days before it expires. It is also possible for your sponsor to renew your visa after it expires if it’s still within the grace period for UAE residence visas. Getting a UAE residence visa renewed is the same as getting a visa when you first applied: your sponsors must apply at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

Who Can Apply for a Residence Visa?

The residence visa can only be applied for through a sponsor. But in certain cases, you may be your own sponsor.

        •  For a Work visa, the employer is the sponsor
        • For a Student visa, the school is the sponsor
        • For a Family visa, the family member is the sponsor
        • You can apply yourself and your company or property (if you are an investor or buy property in the UAE) as sponsorship if you are an investor or buy property in the UAE

What is the Residence Visa Grace Period?

Expatriates can stay in the UAE for another 30 days after their visa expires, thanks to the UAE authorities’ 30-day grace period. Therefore, if your visa has expired, you can stay for another 30 days. However, if you do not have a renewed visa by that time, you must leave the country and enter with an entry permit again. An overstay fine will be imposed for each day that you stay past your departure date.
